Michael started learning paintless dent repair as a teenager after his father brought home a set of metal rods in the 1980s. He treated it as a craft: hours of practice, then a rented building with a dirt floor, then the basement of an apartment, then a career. The metal on vehicles keeps changing; the standard does not.
He is an ARC Master Technician, founder of Hail Repair Team, and owner of sister shop 217 Dent. Hail work is not a side job here. It is the reason the shop exists: get the storm out of the panels without throwing away the only factory finish that vehicle will ever have.
Michael has also answered storm calls beyond Springfield—including large hail events in places such as Champaign, Illinois; Pensacola / Orange Beach; and Shreveport, Louisiana. Those were deployments. The current shop—the place to bring a vehicle today—is Springfield.
Why the factory finish matters
A conventional body repair sands original paint, fills metal, and sprays a new color. That can look fine in a photo. It is not what the manufacturer built, and it is not what Hail Repair Team is for.
Paintless hail repair works the dent from the back of the panel with specialized tools. When it is done well, the factory color, clear coat, and corrosion protection remain. There is no blend panel, no texture mismatch, and no extra film of filler sitting on metal that was designed to crumple in a specific way.
Michael’s view of the trade is blunt: the people in the cabin, and everyone else on the road, depend on the vehicle staying structurally honest. Cheaper is not the goal. Correct is the goal.
